The INSEAD Innovator Prize 2024 will be awarded to: Tim Van Hauwermeiren, Founder & CEO of argenx

This year’s prize will be awarded to argenx and its co-founder and CEO Tim Van Hauwermeiren. The prize awards an exceptional career as entrepreneur and innovator.

Mr Van Hauwermeiren started his career with Procter & Gamble, after which he joined Belgian biotech company Ablynx – working with the founder shoulder-to-shoulder for 5 years. Then in 2008 he went on and founded argenX with two former colleagues. From a humble start working (often at night) out of university labs, argenX became a USD 25 billion+ biotech company, listed on Euronext and Nasdaq.

The company is a pioneer in immunology, developing treatments for severe autoimmune diseases, cancer, and rare diseases. A strong culture, along with a focus on collaboration and partnerships is the backbone of the company and its continued success.

Throughout its existence argenx has not stopped developing and innovating. Today, with the commercialization of its first global drug Vyvgart, the company finds itself again at a crossroad transitioning from a small-scale start-up to a fully integrated biotech company. argenX is now entering a space traditionally held by a handful of incumbents.
