NOVISH, the innovator in plant-based fish alternatives for a more sustainable world by the Belgian INSEAD Entrepreneurship Club in conjunction with the Global INSEAD Community Impact Challenge.
Fish is really tasty and fairly healthy but, contrary to common beliefs and unfortunately, eating fish is often not sustainable. Overfishing is depleting fish stocks in most seas and oceans and farmed fish has significant drawbacks including pollution of aquatic ecosystems and much higher CO2 emissions than plant-based proteins.
Maiko Van der Meer is a veteran food executive with 30 years of experience in leading food companies including Unilever, Vion Food and later Marine Harvest, the world leader in farmed fish.
In 2019, he jumped ship and decided to co-found NOVISH, the European vegan food innovator.
He will share why and how he aims for NOVISH to conquer consumers to become the recognized global leader in tasty plant-based seafood produced in a sustainable manner, thereby contributing to the reduction of overfishing, bycatch and doubtful fish farming practices.
As an entrepreneur in sustainable food, Maiko may not only inspire entrepreneurs, but he also embodies the change that the INSEAD Community Impact Challenge is looking to instil with the Sustainable Food Habits challenge.
